How many universities can I apply to?

You will be able to apply to only one university after receiving the decision of the selection committee. But you can rank up to 5 universities in your application. We suggest that you apply to universities from a range of different academic levels to ensure that you will be accepted into at least one of your chosen schools.

GE3 Partner Universities

There are only a few GE3 places available for Technion students. If you wish to choose from the GE3 list, please simply choose GE3 in the drop-down menu in the online application system. Only top students will be chosen for GE3 slots. Once the Student Exchange Coordinator confirms that you received one of the GE3 slots, you can start the application via the GE3 website and rank your preferred universities in their application system.

What is Erasmus+ ?

Erasmus+ is an EU-funded program for universities in Europe and beyond. If you apply to the schools that have Erasmus+ partnerships with Technion and you are accepted, you might be eligible to receive a grant for travel and living expenses. Please note that this is not guaranteed and would be confirmed only later in the application process by the host university.

Students, who wish to apply for an Erasmus+ scholarship, need to fill out the Erasmus+ Financial Statement Form and upload it to the online application system.

Is there a cancellation fee?

Yes. Cancelling after nomination or acceptance prevents other students from being accepted into the university. If you decide to cancel after your nomination or acceptance into the Exchange Program, you will have to pay the following fee:

  • Students cancelling their application for the program after their request has been processed will be charged an additional 300 NIS cancellation fee.
  • Students cancelling their participation for the program after they have been nominated or accepted to the host university will be charged an additional 650 NIS cancellation fee.
  • All fees will be charged to students’ tuition accounts.
What happens if I apply after the deadline?

  • If a student applies to the program after the deadline, his/her chances of acceptance into a university are significantly reduced.
  • Late applications will be accepted only upon availability and will be charged a late application processing fee of 300 NIS.
How many courses must I take at the host university?

It is recommended that you will advise your department about picking out courses at the supposed university.

At all time the number of courses will move from 3-5 courses.

How can I convert credit points I achieved abroad to Technion credit points?
+

In the end of the semester abroad you will get a certificate with the grades of the courses you’ve done there.

you must bring this document to the faculty office so it will be added to your total credit.

When is the last time for application?

You must apply in the Fall of the year before you want to study abroad for both Spring and Winter semesters. Students need to apply during their 3rd semester to spend a semester abroad during their 5th or 6th semester

Do I must take a course that is conducted in English at Technion before leaving for exchange?

Yes

In which language are the studies?

Most of the schools that you can go to for an exchange program are offering courses in English.

Is the partner universities are the only options to apply for?

Yes.

Is it possible to work abroad during the student exchange?
+

There are countries where you can work during the exchange, but not every country allows it. In most cases it is not easy to find a job in the destination country, and you should take this into account before applying.

What does the calendar look like in institutions abroad?
+

The academic calendar of institutions abroad differs from that of the Technion, and varies from state to state, and also from institution to institution in the same country. Because sometimes the semesters at institutions abroad do not coincide with those of the Technion, you may have to go to the exchanges in the summer months and finish the semester earlier than usual. Therefore, it is advisable to review the academic calendar of the destination institution in advance, in order to prepare for departure at the most appropriate time for you.

How long does the student exchange take?

The exchanges usually last one semester. But it depends on the factors: the approval of the faculty, the host institution, the international authority, and the number of places available.

What are the main factors for choosing a university?

  1. Courses catalog– Does the university you are interested in, offer courses that are relevant to your degree?
  2. Semester dates– Which semester is most suitable for your travels, taking your studies and the Technion semester dates into consideration?
  3. Cost of living– Will you be able to afford the cost of living in the city where the host university is based?

How many universities can a student rank?

In your application, you may rank up to five universities.

What are the Eligibilities for Exchange?

  •  Cumulative average of 80 for Science and Technology students, 85 for Architecture students
  • Students should have no disciplinary record or improper academic status
  • Must have completed at least 4 Technion semesters by the time of the exchange program
  • Must return to Technion for at least 1 semester at the end of their semester abroad
  • Students must take a course that is conducted in English at Technion or Technion International before leaving for exchange

  • Motivation Letter – Explain the reasons why you would like to take part in the Technion Student Exchange Program
  • Proof of English Proficiency – TOEFL or IELTS if required/completed or the relevant letter of approval from the Faculty of Humanities at Technion, choose one! Exemption, Advanced B
  • Erasmus+ Financial Statement Form must include students’ monthly income, additional scholarships granted, etc. This is required if the student is interested in requesting an ERASMUS+ scholarship.
What will happen if I fail a course?

Students who fail a course will not receive credit for the given course.

May I obtain course approval after I return from abroad?
+

Yes, but it is not a guarantee. Try to get as many courses as you can pre-approved. There are times when courses change or are not offered. You may not find this out until on location in your program abroad. Contact your faculty advisor.

Where can I live during the student exchange?

You can live in the dormitory or in a rented apartment, depending on personal preference and the options that the host institution offers to international students.

What are the main things to take into consideration before applying?

  • Exchange costs – flight tickets, visas, accommodation, food, health insurance and more.
  • Look for options the completion of degree studies in a semester or year.
  • The possibility that the exchange will affect work, residence, family, relationships, etc.
  • Students who go on exchanges may not be able to participate in other programs offered in the department or faculty.
  • The difficulties on a long stay in a foreign country.
