Campus & Social Life:
The experience is different from what we are used to, all the Israelis who were there with me would agree. There is a strong emphasis on competitive sports, most people chose the university because of sports, even if they are not part of any team or discipline themselves.
Social life is very important to both the students and the university itself. One could even argue that social life is considered more important than academics.
There is a social club for almost everything, from identity-based groups to culinary clubs.

A Message to Future Students:
Go for it, but don’t expect an experience similar to what we have here.
The Technion, even compared to top universities in the United States, where I met many students during my travels, is much more serious and demanding.
So a semester there sounds light and interesting, but there will be times when you’ll feel uncomfortable with how little you’re investing in academics. Let it go, get to know local students, and really connect with other exchange students. You’ll do a lot together, since they’re going through the same experience.
Go to the Chabad House on Friday nights, the rabbi, Shlomo, is an amazing person, and his wife cooks the best food. Even if you’re not Jewish, I’m not, they welcomed me with open arms.
