Lokey Park
This corner of Lokey Park became a special place for me during a short research stay at the Technion. I used to pass near this park every day to go to my lab, but never entered it, because I thought it was just an ordinary small park. One day, however, I decided to check it out, and learned that many of its trees were planted by Nobel Prize laureates who visited the Technion over the years. Signs in front of each tree indicate the winner’s name and the prize won: Medicine, Peace, Physics, Chemistry, etc. It was such an inspiring discovery! To see that all these people, who changed the world in so many different ways, were here, at the same place I was, was awesome. It reminded me of Milton Nascimento’s song “Tudo o que você podia ser,” which is about following your dreams without fear.
I also really liked how strong a symbol planting a tree is — something for the future, we see it growing over the years. It really gets you thinking.
