  • Campus Life, Activities, Culture, etc.: They work hard to foster connections among foreign students

Zohar Or

  • Full Name: Zohar Or
  • Email: zhr@campus.technion.ac.il
  • Academic Year: Winter 2018-2019
  • Technion Home Faculty: Mechanical Engineering
  • Faculty at Host University: Mechanical Engineering
  • Number of Courses Taken: 5
  • Course Feedback: I took 5 courses, which may be too much for some people, but it suited me. Most courses were high-level, but there were no tutorials, which was a bit strange. I recommend lab/project courses; they are well-funded and well-structured.
  • Campus Life, Activities, Culture, etc.: There are a lot of clubs, so you will surely find one that suits you. Highly recommended. I participated in climbing, which opened the door to meet both local and exchange students.
  • Message for Future Students: KAIST South Korea – What a great place! All classes are in English, allowing you to choose any course you wish. Many international students on campus. Loads of activities for the international community. Very clean and beautiful campus. South Korea itself is a unique and interesting country. Bottom line, highly recommended.

Boaz Moav

  • Full Name: Boaz Moav
  • Email: boazmoav@campus.technion.ac.il
  • Academic Year: Winter 2018-2019
  • Technion Home Faculty: Computer Science
  • Faculty at Host University: Computer Science
  • Number of Courses Taken: 3
  • Course Feedback: I took 3 professional courses and one language course (Korean), and it was great. This is just the right number of courses to make progress with your degree while still having time to enjoy the exchange experience.
  • Campus Life, Activities, Culture, etc.: There were opportunities to join clubs (sports, music, debate, etc.), but I didn’t participate. There were occasional concerts that were fantastic. Getting into the city was easy, and the exchange student community facilitated this.
  • Message for Future Students: South Korea is a great place for a student exchange program. You can enjoy both a high level of education and a completely different social experience. Plus, you can visit Japan, which is always a great bonus.

  • Campus Life, Activities, Culture, etc.: There are sports, singing, and art clubs you can join, as well as discounted classes. There are several festivals during the semester, such as music and fruit festivals. The international office organizes trips, as well as drinking and social events.
  • Message for Future Students: I agree to be contacted. A very positive and personally enriching experience. I highly recommend the KAIST student exchange.

Dvash Abarbanel - Winter 2024-25

Host University: KAIST
Home Faculty: Computer Science at Technion
Host Faculty: Computer Science at KAIST

Courses:

  • Computer Vision (ראייה ממוחשבת) – The course was not recommended for me.

  • Program Reasoning (הגיון תוכנה) – This course was also not suitable.

  • Idea and Expression (רעיון וביטוי) – Similarly, this course did not meet expectations.

Course Recognition at Technion: The courses Computer Vision, Program Reasoning, and Idea and Expression were not recognized at Technion.

Campus: Social life at KAIST was fantastic. There were numerous festivals, events, and activities organized for international students, including performances and workshops. There were also sports groups and trips that you could join, which helped me meet a lot of people.

Personal Experience: While the courses were not as challenging as I had hoped, my time at KAIST was still very enjoyable. The social aspect was great, and I made lasting memories. However, I came back with a renewed appreciation for the academic rigor at Technion.

Advice to Future Students: My advice would be to come with an open mind, enjoy the experience, and don’t stress too much about the assignments. It’s clear that they don’t have the intention of failing anyone, so take it easy and enjoy your time abroad.
