Cornell University

Isaac Murciano- Winter 2025-26

  • Host University: Cornell University

    Home Faculty: Aerospace Engineering

    Host Faculty: School of Engineering

Courses: The courses are easier than at the Technion, mainly because the final grade does not depend solely on the end-of-semester exam.

    • FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING (not recognized) – An introductory course on how companies operate.

    • INTRO SOLID STATE PHYSICS (recognized מצמ״ק)

    • ASTRO: STARS, GALAXIES & COSMOLOGY (recognized מבוא לקוסמולוגיה)

    • STARS, NEUTRON STARS & BH’S (recognized חורים שחורים)

    Campus:
Campus social life is very rich. There are thousands of student clubs and “coffee chats” that you can join. There is a large Jewish population at the university, with an active Jewish community and organizations such as the Jewish Center, an official kosher dining hall, Jewish fraternities, Chabad, and Hillel. There are also quite a few Israelis on campus and in Ithaca in general. Several sports centers are spread across campus, along with many interesting sports courses to join. One thing is certain- it’s never boring there.

    Advice to Future Students:

  • Connect with the Jewish student community, go to Chabad on Friday evenings, and participate in activities at the Jewish Center. It is easy to connect over a shared background, and this will provide you with broader connections and more information about what Cornell has to offer. It will make your experience more social, intense, and interesting. This will only expand your social circle, including beyond the Jewish community as well.

  • Don’t worry about antisemitism, there is almost none. Occasionally there are protests against Trump and Israel, usually with fewer than 20 participants. As I mentioned, there are many Jewish students, and some of them walk around wearing Star of David necklaces or even a kippah and tzitzit.
