Host University & Semester: Politecnico di Milano, Winter 2024
Home Faculty at Technion: Electrical Engineering
Faculty at Host University: Informatics Engineering

Courses Taken: 2

Email: shachardeyi@campus.technion.ac.il

  • Fundamentals of Signals and Transmission (Recognized as 440202)

  • Machine Learning (Recognized as 460195)

Course Recommendations:
I do not recommend the course on Random Signals, as it was taught in Italian and covered in an overly extended format. The professor was helpful throughout the semester, but overall, it was not a positive experience. However, I do recommend the Machine Learning course, as it closely matched the equivalent course at Technion and was taught in English.

Social Life:
There was an excellent mentorship program, which was very helpful. Additionally, the campus offered a fitness center at a discounted rate for students.

Message to Future Students:
Your experience will be shaped by the choices you make and the people you connect with. Feel free to reach out to me regarding the exchange.

Student Testimonial:
“This experience was a mix of self-reflection and adventure. From living alone to speaking almost exclusively in English, to stepping out of my comfort zone to connect with new people, this semester has been transformative. It wasn’t always easy, but it was absolutely worth it.
Italy and specifically Milan are beautiful, and I enjoyed wandering the streets of this amazing place that is full of history and stories. It was a time in my life I will never forget.”

Student’s Feedback:

  • Academic Feedback:
During the semester, I joined a design studio with students from all over the world. Working together on shared projects was an enriching experience: I was exposed to different worldviews and new architectural approaches and techniques, while also being able to contribute my own perspectives and ideas which I had developed in the Technion.
  • Social Life:
Living in Milano was also a major part of the whole experience, exploring the culture, the food, the language, the landscapes, and the people. I had a great time hiking and traveling with friends across Italy and Switzerland, capturing incredible natural and architectural views. Although the situation back home was complicated, I felt comfortable and enjoyed meeting new friends. I also had meaningful conversations about Israel with students from different countries, which helped me see how people perceive things from outside and gave me a chance to share my own point of view.
  • General Feedback:
Taking part in an exchange program had been a dream of mine since I began my studies, and I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to live and study in such a unique academic and cultural environment. The exchange left me with new skills, broader perspectives, and motivation for the next steps in my studies and career.
